Hi. I’m here to talk to you about some of the exciting features you’ll find in MyLab Counseling.

Created specifically for Counseling students and instructors, MyLab Counseling is designed to support students’ mastery and application of the skills they’ll need for successful careers in Counseling.

Today we’ll talk about video- and case-based exercises, the video library, licensure quizzes, and how MyLab Counseling assignments align to CACREP standards.

To be effective counselors, it is essential that students spend time observing and analyzing counseling sessions and going through the case conceptualization process. MyLab Counseling’s video- and case-based exercises are an easy way for instructors to provide these experiences—without having to spend valuable time gathering videos or creating exercises from scratch.

Most exercises feature videos of actual client-therapist sessions with expert counselors. Seeing expert counselors in action introduces students to effective theories and techniques they can use with their own clients. The accompanying questions offer immediate answer feedback to help guide students’ learning and develop their analysis skills.

A Video Library offers additional opportunities for students to increase their observation time as they watch expert counselors demonstrate theories and techniques.

With the Video Library, students can search a database of more than 400 video clips of real counseling sessions, ethical scenarios, and interviews with helpers and clients.

All of the clips are organized by course area. Instructors can build and share their own custom collections using the existing clips in the Video Library, their own videos, or videos from YouTube.

To become a licensed counselor, students must master foundational course content and pass a licensure examination. MyLab Counseling’s Licensure Quizzes help prepare students for success on their exams. These multiple-choice quizzes offer immediate answer feedback, so students can quickly identify concepts they have mastered, and what they need to study to improve their performance.

MyLab Counseling organizes all of the exercises and assessments around essential learning outcomes and the CACREP standards. Instructors can quickly identify which MyLab Counseling exercises align with the standards they need to address and can use the exercises to report on student mastery.

All of students’ responses to the exercises and assessments are reported to the gradebook. Instructors can easily identify concepts that the class might be struggling with, and tailor their instruction accordingly.
